SENIORS NEW VAN

Assemblyman Robin Schimminger and several Northwest Seniors and staff at the Northwest Buffalo Community Center check out the new 15 passenger van. The Center was able to purchase the van with a $30,000 New York State legislative grant secured by Assemblyman Schimminger. The van will be used to provide safe transportation for seniors in the Black Rock/Riverside community to get to their medical appointments, shopping, recreation and social events. Our Northwest Buffalo Seniors Center held an ugly holiday sweater contest on Wednesday January 3rd 2018. Winners were: Hattie Crawford 1st place, Lydia Castro 2nd place and Betty Wolfram 3rd place. All received cash prizes for their efforts. Honorable mentions went to Pennie Misuraca and Gloria Toledo.

Pictured is some of our Northwest Buffalo Seniors ringing in 2018. A special party was held Friday December 29th with great food, non-alcoholic champagne, raffles, hats, horns and singing of Auld Lang Syne. This was the last activity held in 2017. There are many more activities on the agenda for 2018.

SENIORS MAKE BLANKETS FOR PEDIATRICS

Pictured is our Northwest Buffalo senior craft class making blankets for the Warm Up WNY Project. New warm blankets are needed for pediatric patients at the Oishei Children’s Hospital and are being collected at the Northwest Buffalo Community Center until January 31st 2018. The class has collected and have made a total of 60 blankets so far.

Mr. And Mrs. Angelo Toledo were honored by Councilmember Joe Golombek with a proclamation celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Wednesday November 22nd. They celebrated with many of their friends at the center that afternoon. This is one of many special occasions celebrated at the center.

BUFFALO BILLS COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT DAY

On Tuesday October 10th the Buffalo Bills organization held a community engagement day. The team interacted with the children at the Northwest Buffalo Community Center. Wide Receiver Zay Jones was among many Bills who attended the events though out the City of Buffalo.
